John Bull History

Formed in the 1990's, the John Bull Pub Company has franchised operations in countries such as Russia, Hungary and Poland, as well as our directly managed pubs in France.

The John Bull Pubs in France are part of the Charles Wells family of companies, based in Bedfordshire in England and was founded in 1876. At present there are two pubs in Toulouse: The London Town and The George and Dragon, two pubs in Montpellier: The Shakespeare and The Robin Hood and two pubs in Bordeaux: The Charles Dickens and The Sherlock Holmes.

Each of our pubs has an authentic English atmosphere that has been tailored to fit into their French location. Every pub has a great range of genuine English beers from the Charles Wells family of companies mixed with a wide selection of other products, to be enjoyed in cosy, homely surroundings. We have regular events, including traditional English pub games and we show all major sports matches. Our friendly bilingual staff are the heart and soul of our pubs and really bring our atmosphere to life.
